About Mrs. Droddy

After graduating from Kingston High School in 1990, I attended UNT and TWU in Denton, Texas while working at Andrew Corporation.  I was still working my way through school in 1994 when the opportunity arose for me to transfer to Newnan, Georgia where Andrew Corp. was opening a new Shelter Manufacturing facility.  I was promoted to office manager and was able to complete my BBA in Accounting at West Georgia State University in Carrollton, Georgia.

In 1995 I married my wonderful husband Jim and we moved back to Texas in 1996.  I transferred back to Andrew Corp's Denton facility where I worked in their accounting department.  November 1997 I went to work as office manager at Pathnet, Inc. in their engineering office in Highland Village, Texas.

All these were wonderful opportunities, but I always had a deep seeded desire to teach.  It was a dream come true when my mother called me one day, a week before school was starting in Denton and told me that they were in desperate need for a business/computer teacher.  I went in for an interview on Friday and started teaching at Ryan High School in Denton the following Monday.  I received a temporary teaching certificate that year.  I loved the students and my job.  Knowing this was where I was meant to be I received my Texas Teaching Certificate the next year.  After teaching at Ryan High for two years, my beautiful twins, Jarod & Lizzie, were born.  My oldest child, Jimbo, was four years old and Lizzie needed open heart surgery, so I ended up leaving the school district to stay home with my children for two years.

In May 2003, I went to work at Premier Nationwide Lending in Denton as an Office Manager.  I enjoyed my job, but wanted to get back into teaching.

In August 2004, I was hired at Kingston High School.  I received my Oklahoma Teaching Certification and plan on staying here as long as they'll let me.  This has been an awesome place to teach.  I love the students, parents and faculty members.  I have had the privilege of teaching Yearbook, Business Law, Economics, General Business, Keyboarding, Accounting, and Personal Financial Literacy at Kingston.  In the business department I currently teach Personal Financial Literacy, General Business, and Accounting.

My goal is to better prepare students for the future that lies ahead of them the way my teachers and mentors prepared me.
