Kingston middle school band students visited Tecumseh for the All Area Honor Band on April 4th. Band directors from across the area nominate their top students to attend. The selection committee goes over applications and selects students to fill four bands.
Listed are the students who participated in the trip: Brittany Smith, Glenna Sprouse, Addison Hodges, Akire Wolff, Payton Giles, Celeste Burch, Haley Woodruff, Jayelynn Smith, Allicia Carper, Alayna Cox, Kayla Taylor, Ashlee Ellis, Jill Boone, Nathan Lehr, Megan Moss, Madison Thomas, Kaden Stewart, Kyle Kirk, Lane Cryer, Caleb Harrison, Terriona King, Cora Roberts, Faith Hollowell, Nate Baker and Sajera Freeman.
Those students participated in a full day of rehearsals and that evening the students performed a concert. Each band played several pieces for the public. The students were grouped into two different categories- first and second year players.
The Kingston students are under the direction of Jon Dohrer. Here are some of Mr. Dohrer’s thoughts, “Every time I take Kingston students somewhere, they make me more proud. The musicians displayed model citizenship, they were polite, well-mannered and professional. Plus, they’re great musicians. After a grueling day of rehearsals, they performed a very good concert.”
Next up, the middle school along with the high school bands will be performing the annual spring concert Tuesday April 25 at 6pm. The event is open to the public.
