KHS Band Seniors Sign for College
Kingston Communication Skills
On May 3, 2017 Kingston High School seniors Alie Degraw and Jonas McGahey signed college band scholarships for East Central University located in Ada. The band director of East Central University, Dr. Allen Correll eagerly gave the scholarships to these two fine band members. Once the seniors received the scholarships, both Alie and Jonas signed and agreed to attend East Central University.
Dr. Correll said, “This is one of the prettiest schools and some of the best band kids in the state and my son-in-law, Eric Hall, was the band director for Kingston several years ago, so I know a little bit about Kingston schools.”
Kingston High School Band Director shared some thoughts about the two graduates. “Alie has been an outstanding student for many years. She is dedicated, talented, reliable, organized and very passionate about band. She is a great band kid, and she will be an immediate contributor at ECU. Sally has been locked in on East Central for many years, so he is completing a longtime goal by signing a scholarship offer. He is not only an excellent percussionist, he is also a great jazz performer, and a dedicated student of music. ECU is lucky to have him.”
After spending several years in band, the seniors’ hard work was finally paying off. Alie Degraw and Jonas McGahey will be attending East Central University next school year.
